The first trip
We need to go back to 2003 for this
Kingdom Hearts came out that year. I never got a PS2, but I got the chance of play it occasionally from friends and what not.
That game captivated me like no other. An action game, so smooth, with rpg elements, and characters from Final Fantasy
What else was there to wish for?
What really got me at the time, was the prologue, talking about youngsters wanting to get out of their island and see the outside
Being an islander as well, it resonated with me. I always kinda wanted to see something different, but after seeing Kingdom Hearts for the first time, that became a core part of who I am now
These days I don't give as much value to that game anymore, but looking for other places to see remained as a staple.
Sadly, I didn't get any chances for a while.
Fast forward to 2009, there were people talking about how great was the comic-con in the country mainland. I got curious, and decided that would have been my chance to get outside for good
But it didn't happen. I had no money, no people to go with, and too scared to go alone anyway.
I swore I would have gotten there next year, so I started preparing.
I was still 15 back then, so there was no chance to get any real job. I was tutoring some kids occasionally, but that wouldn't provide me with the money I needed in time
An acquaintance of mine (let's call him G) was leafleting for a bingo place as a job. Any person with a flyer would get a pizza for free there, as long as they would play at least once (for 1 euro). He would get paid depending on how many flyers would get back to the place.
We made a deal, and I got a huge amount of flyers from him. I gave half of them to my friend "A". We started going there every saturday night, get the pizza, play once each, then leave.
G would make sure we would get there even though we were minors. He would let us in from the backdoor.
Somehow, just a couple of weeks before the 2010's comic-con, we won at the bingo. I think it was something like 500 euro
Filled with joy, we organized the trip for the comic-con. As part of the deal, G would also be coming with us using that money.
We needed to be with G anyway. Back then, if you were under 18, you needed to be with an over-18 to take any plane, and luckily for us, G was 19 already.
Either I should complete this one or drop it. I'm probably gonna drop this. I don't like how this is going
